The administrative structure of Wau-Waria District is designed to ensure effective governance, inclusive planning, and efficient service delivery across all three Local Level Governments (LLGs): Waria, Wau Rural, and Wau Urban. The District Development Authority (DDA) serves as the operational and planning arm of the district, working to meet the needs of communities based on accurate data and strong leadership.

Brief Overview

The Wau-Waria District Development Authority (DDA) oversees the district’s planning, budgeting, coordination, and service implementation. With guidance from elected representatives and technical officers, the administration works to deliver quality governance and equitable development to even the most remote areas of the district.

The DDA Board is composed of key stakeholders, including: 1) The District Member of Parliament (Chairman) 2) LLG Presidents 3)Sectoral Representatives

This board is responsible for identifying development priorities, approving project plans, and guiding investment across critical sectors.

District Development Authority (DDA)

The DDA functions as the executive body that manages day-to-day administrative operations. Its core roles include: 1) Coordinating with provincial and national partners 2) Implementing district-funded projects and programs 3) Monitoring service delivery 4) Facilitating transparent governance practices

The DDA also ensures that resources are allocated fairly and services reach all wards in line with the district’s goals and annual work plans.

Electoral & Ward Representation

Wau-Waria’s governance model is grounded in community representation. Based on the 2023 Baseline Report, the district is divided into:

1) 3 LLGs 2) 43 Wards 3) 182 Villages

Each ward has elected leaders who represent the people’s interests and ensure local priorities are communicated to the DDA. This structure promotes transparency and enables grassroots participation in development decisions.
