Wau-Waria stands as the 10th District of Morobe Province — home to resilient communities, fertile lands,
and cultural pride. Join us as we strengthen our economy, improve lives,
and protect our heritage.
From agriculture to infrastructure, from tradition to transformation — Wau-Waria is paving the path
for inclusive development. Together, we rise to build a district we are proud to call home.
“As the Poioneer MP of the newest Wauwaria District, I am proud to lead our District with a clear vision to promote inclusive development, transparent governance and sustainable growth, laying a firm foundation for our District’s future.”
Wau-Waria holds great potential, and together, we will invest in essential infrastructure, improve services, and empower our people.
Waria is a rural and remote area known for its gold panning, cocoa, and coffee production. Access to markets and mobile coverage is limited, and basic services like healthcare and education require urgent upgrades. Communities often travel long distances by foot to access essential facilities.
The most populated LLG, Wau Rural leads in agriculture and small-scale mining. Despite its economic contributions, the area struggles with poor infrastructure, limited health access, and a high rate of law- issues but now Community cooperatives play a key role in development.
Wau Urban is the most developed LLG, offering better access to education, health services, and transportation. It is home to the district’s only colleges and hosts active markets and trade. While infrastructure is stronger, urban challenges like crime and overcrowding still exist.
Your voice matters. Be an active part of Wau-Waria’s development by participating in community forums, district programs, and local initiatives. Whether it’s sharing ideas, volunteering, or staying informed—every contribution counts.
From upgraded airstrips and new markets to school renovations and health aid posts, our district is transforming — one project at a time. Explore these recent photos capturing the real impact of development across Waria, Wau Rural, and Wau Urban.
